Iceland Adventure: In Photos

We are back from an AMAZING 2 week family adventure to Iceland... this trip had nothing to do with work (except that there was wool EVERYWHERE) and I can't wait to share some pics with you!  My husband drove us over 2000 miles as we attempted to circumnavigate the island and see it ALL! I had never traveled to a northern country in summer, and we had almost 20 hours of sunlight everyday... this meant for ALOT of great photo ops and long travel days.

The cameras came home with over 2000 images on them, I decided to start with just a few.  I "tried" to choose one a day, but some days had SO many adventures it was impossible to do that!  Ready?

Fantastic photos and overview of your amazing trip! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing and I look forward to more! I've only been through the airport in Iceland -- I like seeing here way more of the country than I got on the flights in/out. I've been to Norway in July three times and absolutely LOVE the long, up north summer days of magnificent light! Welcome back! Can't wait for the KAL to begin.

  17. Did a similar trip earlier this summer. It was wonderful. A knitting highlight was isafjordur in the West Fjords. I bought a bunch of yarn - but didn't figure out how it worked until I got home. Then when I realized that it was not the lace weight that I wanted, I mail-ordered a bunch more -- the shipping cost more than the yarn - but I love the yarn.

I love the vastness and reclusiveness of the landscape,
that is really vacation I guess.
Did you see the Aurora borealis? I always wanted to see that some time for real, not only on internet.
    Great trip!

    1. I believe you can only see those in the winter time... when we were in Iceland there were around 20 hours of daylight... I don't think it got dark enough for the Northern Lights!

  25. I just came back from Iceland last Monday. I went for my 60th birthday. It is beautiful, but I'll tell you it was bitterly cold in January. Still was a great trip.
