Obsessio Cowl: A Cabling and S2kpo Tutorial!

Thankyou SO MUCH for the Obsessio LOVE!  I am thrilled with the reception my new pattern has received!  I noticed in the Craftsy forum and in my Ravelry group that some of you have never worked a cable at the edge of your work and it's throwing you for a loop (as they say)!

Since a picture is always worth a thousand words I decided to shoot a little video to show you how to do it.  I also threw in how to work the s2kpo for those of you who that is new for too!

A disclaimer: This was shot at my kitchen table with my standard poodle pacing around behind me, and my nails a little worse for wear after a weekend of gardening! I know many of you are used to the high quality of my Craftsy videos.... apologies!

  1. I had the slick metal needle slip out of the 8 already worked stitches of the cable when getting ready to knit the 8 off my Bryspun dpn needle. I was trying to relax back in the chair and quickly learned that the weight of the metal tip needs support so I moved to the table.

    1. A table, or pillow underneath you, definitely helps!

  4. I'd like to see a video of you shooting a video sometime, as I'm fascinated with the process. I imagine some sort of camera mounted around your neck or on a shoulder. On another blog someone mentioned holding a laptop in their lap, but facing it backwards so that the web cam caught their knitting from a knitters point of view.

    1. ha! it's pretty amusing... at my kitchen table, camera on a tripod, arms at an impossible angle and all the windows closed so there is no tractor or car noise!

  6. I found that a bamboo chopstick worked really well for the cable.

  7. Finished both of the Pioneer cuffs from your kit before beginning the Accola shawl (have completed 24 of 29 edging sections - hurrah)and love the cuff results.
Am now converting a favorite wool lace bookmark pattern for another beaded cuff. These cuffs are great and quick little gifts for my granddaughters and ME, too.
The Accola course is my 3rd Craftsy class with your lessons. Not all are "completely" completed but I am learning more skills as I go along switching between your various lessons and enjoy your teaching skills. (I always have a lot of projects going at the same time - and they do get finished - as needed.)

  8. I had some difficulty with the double yarn-over in the first row. I let it go and I don't think I should have.
