Usually my travel knitting is simply socks. Even if I don't have any on the needles, I've definitely got enough sock yarn stashed that I can grab a ball and needles on the way out the door and just do a plain vanilla pair. The result-I have a long laceweight cashmere shawl/scarf for me that will make the trip, a pair of socks I put on the needles a day ago to take with me and perhaps a pair of fingerless mitts that will be a holiday gift.
