La Jefa: New Pattern!
Oh, you all have been patient! Ready for the last sweater in the Novus Collection?
Introducing LA JEFA!
I've been working on La Jefa ever since I got yarn from Jennifer at Spirit Trail Fiberworks in November. I ripped a few times, revamped things once, and then had a slew of people test her to make sure La Jefa fit more than just my body type!
Oh, I love this sweater! The wait was worth it, I promise!
La Jefa is definitely the most challenging of the 3 sweaters in the Novus Collection, but if you have knit Hot Flash or Las Cruces, or are comfortable with lace, you will be ready for her!
I actually knit two La Jefa's... the second is knit in Anzula Breeze (the same heavy lace silk/linen I knit both Crucero's with) in Shitake.
I think you can see the stitch details a bit more clearly in it! The back and side seam panels use the stitch I developed for Meta Mystery KAL
And the "body" uses the same stitch I used in Clarus! So really, though it looks complicated, this might be a familiar knit for a few of you!
And lucky you! Guess what? Spirit Trail has offered to giveaway a Sweater Quantity (2 or 3 skeins, size dependent) of Nona in Rose Kissed (the color shown above) to one of you lucky blog readers! And Jennifer is so in love with La Jefa that she is offering 20% off Nona through 4/25/16. Just enter the code BOSSLADY at checkout.
Just leave a comment below letting me know who is La Jefa in your life! Don't forget to leave a way to get in touch with you... I'll keep comments open through April 24th and announce a winner in my next blog post!
Introducing LA JEFA!
La Jefa (pronounced La He-fa) means Boss Lady in Spanish, and this sweater is certainly the boss! |

ReplyDeleteAnd look how gorgeous the Lady Boss looks in that cherryred!
ReplyDeleteI have been so much looking forward to knit the last one of your great Novus collection and now I can cast on right away - how great!
Of course my La Jefa are my two boys - too small to not be taken care off, too cute to not follow their command - mostly anyways! :)

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to knit this! I've been hoping for ages that Laura would design a lace sweater and here it is. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful sweater! As a professional woman in a mostly male world, I make a point of dressing in a feminine but professional way. La Jefa will make it clear who the boss is when I am the only woman in the room! moilars@verizon.net
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to knitting this beautiful and interesting sweater as soon as I finish Synthesis and would love too win the Nona in Rose Kissed. Can La Jefa be a man? I would say he is my La Jefa. (ehill32@live.com)
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, Laura, you've outdone yourself! La Jefa in this household is Pyewacket, my 15+year old, blind, asthmatic kitty who's in congestive heart failure and is still going strong. She reminds me every day to keep going.

ReplyDeletewho is la jefa? in my family, i think the la jefa role is divided up between my 4 sons. outside of the family, la jefa is my best friend - but in a good way. she always knows just what i need. i love this pattern and think it would make a great work jacket.

My La Jefa is my wonderful Spanish Lady who actually came to me from Spain. She is feisty, sweet and can be timid around strange men. She has a rubbery nose and quite scary fangs. Her name is Circe and she is a galgo (or Spanish Greyhound) rescued from Spain. She is a delight and after all she endured is a strong positive role model for anyone.

ReplyDeleteMy Jefa is a beautiful Buddha named Tara!
ReplyDeleteLa Jefa around our house is our Lady Lulu, the most finicky cat you would ever meet. If she doesn't like dinner, she gets to try something else. If she wants "that spot" , her brother has to move.
ReplyDeleteShe'd love to sniff around some new and exciting yarn.
La Jefa in my life is a woman I adore -- my cousin. Since my wedding, she is known to the family as "The General". Without her drill sergeant style event planning skills in her maid-of-honor role, the occasion -- which took place in another country many moons ago -- would have been a pale comparison to the spectacular affair it was. Kudos to you, Laura, for continuing to create amazing and singularly unique designs that turn heads, attract flattering comments, and resonate with confident women. Melillo on Ravelry
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design! Most of the time I am La Jefa in the house but my husband is a close second :)

My La Jefa was my beautiful mother who passed away much too soon. I hear her voice in my head every day, encouraging me and tending my heart. The sweaters are beautiful. Thank you for the chance to win the yarn.

Gorgeous sweater! I am La Jefa at this time in my retirement life.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous doesn't even come close to describing how beautiful this sweater is! Maggie the Golden Retriever is my BossLady :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I am the only boss of me, now that our darling Gracie dog is no longer with us. This sweater is a knockout and that red--WOW!
ReplyDeleteLa Jefa in my life is "me", according to me, but according to my children, it's them. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is gorgeous. Would love to try my hand at this,
As the oldest of 4 kids, I've always been the boss! It took a little while for my husband to make peace with that though. Lol! I've made Las Cruces and have Hot Flash on my To Do list. La Jefa will now be added too.
ReplyDeleteSince my husband passed away several months ago I have had to learn to be a "Boss Lady" in many ways. Knitting is my passion and go to for peace and relaxation. I'm now working on Hot Flash and just ordered yarn to make Le Jefa. Both sweaters are absolutely gorgeous! Whoever wins this contest is one lucky "Boss Lady!"
ReplyDeleteGorgeous addition to this collection of sweaters. Would love to make this one too!!! I am definitely La Jefa in my house but in our larger family it would of course be my mom!!
ReplyDeleteSo very, very beautiful! This is my favorite of all. I've already ordered yarn for it, but would love to win the gorgeous yarn from Spirit Trail. I would say that most days I'm La Jefa, but some days it's my knitting that's the boss of me. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the new cardigan. It would be just perfect for my sweetie.I would say that the "Boss Lady" on our lives is our kitty, but he is a boy, does this still count?
ReplyDeleteI AM LA JEFA...of me, and hopefully will always be. The rose color is gorgeous, but the construction of La Jefa is remarkable. You "done good", Laura.

I love the pattern. As for who is La Jefa in my life - well I'd have to say it's Mom

Love this cardigan from the collection! Just this week I was thinking about knitting up another lace cardi. La Jefa is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love La Jefa! And I am La Jefa when it comes to knitting! My dad taught me to knit over 40 years ago and I've been at it ever since. I'm ready to retire (from my 9-5 job) and move to a warmer climate...Laura's lacey jacket patterns are perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteIn our house, our cats Allie Cat and Zumba are La Jefa - but that may change when I knit this sweater - I love it! It looks just right for our cool seasons. Definitely worth the wait. :-) You can contact me through Ravelry, I am salpal1. or through my blog http://whatimuptotoday.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteLa Jefa for my whole family is mi abuela, Happy. Tiny and gracious, but she rules us all with a lift of her manicured finger! She's one of the ladies who taught me to knit, and would probably end up with the sweater if I make it.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'm the La Jefa in the family. Sadly, not many left.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful offer.
Rav id is purple
I'm my own La Jefa in my life, although that might change once I decide to get cats...
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is beautiful, although I'm still a bit scared of lace, but I'm sure it would be worth the struggle.
As an empty nester I am currently "bossed" by my lovely little cat, but my first grandchild is on the way so there will be a management change in the future I am sure:) I love this sweater!

Wow this is stunning! I would have to say that my mom is La Jefa :) She keeps us all together and slightly less crazed, lol. Thanks so much for such an amazing giveaway.
