This experience takes you from the passionate energy of Madrid to the charm of Barcelona, all while giving you a yummy sampling of the local culture.

I mean, who doesn't want to make espadrilles in Barcelona WHILE drinking Cava??? Or stay at a mountain monastery with a spa??? Or visit the Wooldreamers mill??? Or end our adventure with a full weekend with the knitters of Europe at Barcelona Knits Festival???

Over 10 extraordinary days, this Spanish knitting adventure transports you between the vibrant energy of Madrid and the cosmopolitan charm of Barcelona. Highlights include celebrating Madrid's Feast of the Almudena festival, bargain hunting at the legendary El Rastro flea market, and learning to make authentic tapas. After visiting the Wooldreamer’s Mill, castle, windmills, and winery in La Mancha, spend a night at the peaceful 800-year-old Monasterio de Piedra monastery. Barcelona thrills with tours of Gaudi architecture, an espadrille workshop, the mountaintop Montserrat monastery, and two days of reveling in the Barcelona Knits Festival. Exclusive knitting classes, a flamenco show, and a sangria masterclass round out an unforgettable experience blending culture, creativity, and community.

Itinerary

Day 1: 9 November 2024 HOLA AND WELCOME TO MADRID!

Transfer to your capital city hotel and meet with your fellow knitters and your guide, CECILIA FERRARI! Enjoy a Welcome Brunch before setting out to celebrate the Feast of the Almudena! Join in with the locals and see processions, listen to live music, and taste local foods from the stalls and carts dotted around with foods created especially for the day. Visit Miss Kits, a fabulous Madrid yarn store, before a Welcome Drinks Reception and dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Day 2: 10 November 2024 MARKET, MUSEUM, AND MUCHOS TAPAS!

Sundays in Madrid mean one thing: the El Rastro market. This sprawling open-air market is on every weekend so you can treasure hunt through more than 700 stalls. Next, Museo del Traje de Madrid, or Costume Museum, takes us on a journey through the evolution of clothing, from the 16th century to the present day. And then time to roll up your sleeves and get creating Tapas at The Cooking Clubhouse! The in-house professional Chef will guide you step by step through some of Spain’s most iconic tapas recipes keeping our wine glasses full all the while! 

Day 3: 11 November 2024 WOOLDREAMERS AND DON QUIXOTE COUNTRY

Travel into the La Mancha region and experience WoolDreamers. This mill is focused on heritage, roots, craftsmanship, nature, and humanity, encompassed in excellence and authenticity. Enjoy a comprehensive guided tour that gives us complete insight into their yarn-making process and receive a little gift! Enjoy lunch before a tour and tasting of Mont Reaga winery. We’ll then visit Museo-Casa Dulcinea del Toboso before continuing onto Castillo De Belmonte, a medieval castle on the hill of San Cristobal. WHAT A DAY!


 

Day 4: 12 November 2024 MONASTERIO De PIEDRA

Time for a break from the city! 800 years of sanctuary echo around this idyllic location on the Piedra River. The former monastery and parklands allow you to enjoy nature in its purest form as spectacular waterfalls guide you through this dream location. Enjoy an exciting class with Laura where she’ll teach you the tips and tricks of our trip design (in Wooldreamers, of course) before lunch and a guided hike and exploration of our incredible surroundings. Make use of the relaxing Spa facilities (not included, subject to availability) before a tranquil dinner together. 


Day 5: 13 November 2024 THE ROAD TO BARCELONA!

Today we gently meander towards Barcelona. First, we take a quick stop in Zaragoza, with two majestic cathedrals, a fortified Islamic palace in the city centre, monumental remains of the Roman Caesar Augusta, Renaissance-style palace houses, unique treasures of the work of Francisco de Goya, emblems of modern architecture and one of the most diverse gastronomic scenes in Spain. Continue towards Barcelona, stopping to admire the views and enjoy a local lunch. Check into our city centre hotel and relax before dinner.


Day 6: 14 November 2024 GAUDI AND ESPADRILLES!

After breakfast, we take a guided tour of the most recognizable of all of Barcelona’s architecture - La Sagrada Família. It's a giant Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 and it's not expected to be completed for some time yet. This afternoon, discover the best of Barcelona, touring at your own pace using your Hop on Hop off voucher on the official sightseeing bus. In the late afternoon, we’ll be crafting espadrilles in an artisanal workshop in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona with The Espadrilles Experience. This evening, we go to Gaudi’s masterpiece, La Pedrera! 


Day 7: 15 November 2024 MONTSERRAT, YARN, AND FLAMENCO

After breakfast, we take a scenic train and cable car to Montserrat - a beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat northwest of Barcelona city. In the Montserrat Monastery Museum, you can see works by important artists such as Dalí, El Greco, Monet, and Giordano. After a leisurely lunch, visit Lalanalu yarn shop to meet the hosts of Barcelona Knits and receive your event wristband. This evening we visit El Tablao De Carmen, for flamenco and dinner!!! Olé!

Day 8: 16 November 2024 BARCELONA KNITS!

Join your coach after breakfast and travel the short distance to the BARCELONA KNITS FESTIVAL on the Barcelona waterfront, overlooking the Balearic Sea. You have the chance to book a class as a part of our package and of course any additional classes you are welcome to book and pay yourself. Enjoy the many activities going on throughout the day and make the most of all the stalls! The remainder of the day and evening is free for you to explore, or you can just take our shuttle back to the hotel for a bit of knitting and relaxation! This evening there will be a fun dinner, knitting, and entertainment event!

 

Day 9: 17 November 2024 BARCELONA KNITS DAY 2!

After a leisurely Sunday breakfast, you may join your shuttle for a return to the water’s edge and BARCELONA KNITS! More of the same wonderful learning, shopping, and socializing in the fun and lively festival! This afternoon return to your hotel for an exclusive knitting class with Carol Feller of Stolen Stitches! This evening join us for a Sangria Masterclass in our hotel and an evening knitting circle before dinner.

Day 10: 18 November 2024 ADIOS!

Our Spanish adventure draws to a close as our chauffeur transfer takes you to the airport for your return home. As we transfer you to the airport, bid farewell to Spain, but remember you are bringing treasured memories, new skills, and great friends with you!

Pricing

Price per person/sharing €5129 (single supplement €1150)

A deposit of 20% of the total tour price is required to hold your booking.

The balance of the tour is due 60 days before arrival and can be made in installment payments on request.If you have friends or family who want to join you but do not knit, we offer a special non-knitter discount of €200!

We urge you to purchase cancellation insurance & supplemental medical coverage (which covers pre-existing conditions). This is a smart way to safeguard against life’s surprises.
