AQUICOWL (a new Craftsy kit!) and a yarn GIVEAWAY!
I've been waiting to tell you about this lovely cowl, AQUICOWL, for quite a while.... I finished it up this summer, with the goal of giving it to my father-in-law for the holidays. I am pretty sure he is going to love wearing this while walking the dog this winter!
AQUICOWL is worked in the round with a two-color mosaic stitch. This fun stitch incorporates elongated slipped stitches into an easily memorizable pattern! The stitch is very similar to what I used in Aquifer, the 3rd design in 2017's M Club.
Combining this stitch with a gradient yarn set makes for some awfully amusing knitting! I used a Cloudborn Merino Superwash Sock Twist Mini set, which was the perfect match for it.
The AQUICOWL pattern is only available in a kit through Craftsy.... but lucky for you you can see that it is DEEPLY discounted as they are having some major Holiday Sales. You may want to check out my other kits with Craftsy at the same time : )!
To celebrate releasing AQUICOWL I have a set of Cloudborn Merino Superwash Sock Twist Mini's in Blue Warbler! WHO WANTS IT?
Just leave a comment below letting me know how your week was... I'd love to hear from you! Don't forget to leave a way to get in touch with you... I'll keep comments open through November 30th. I'm going to announce the winner on December 1st in a Facebook Live event I am going to do FROM THE STUDIOS OF CRAFTSY! (more on this next week... just follow my Facebook Page for details!) Never a dull moment around here!
Winner Announced! Congrats BeeGi!!!
Oh, and want to hear who won last week's skein of Freia Fibers Ombre Worsted for Brioche Topper? Congrats MimiFan, get in touch to claim your yarn!

ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous cowl and would love to have it waiting for me to start on when I get home
My week was awesome - I spent the first half with my boyfriend and his family in California, then flew home to the east coast for more celebrations with my family.

My week has been one of baking pies, eating turkey, and doing a lot of Christmas knitting with more still to do. The cowl is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis week has been chaos! Family at my house with sick kids, now they are gone but the 3 of us are now sick. I turned 40 on Thursday so I am feeling conflicted there. I am just gonna sit in my quiet house today & knit! ;)

ReplyDeleteHey, Laura. My week was interesting. The holidays are always messy for those of us in emergency mental health. Today I knit, because it's MY therapy! Hope you are well. suewoo on rav
ReplyDeleteWish I could have knit more this holiday! Our ice maker broke and the day before thanksgiving our septic tank backed up. Cancelled dinner and since the septic companies nearby all let their crews go deer hunting Hubby and I dug up the lid, found the filter, and cleaned it out. I REALLY need a new knitting kit and an adult beverage!

what a nice new pattern. I could really use this giveaway as I tore my right meniscus Tuesday, and have no idea how long I'll be out of commission :(
ReplyDeleteMy week was a mess! We don't celebrate thanksgiving where I live, so I spent the week deep-cleaning the house in order to be ready for Xmas (which is indeed the big holiday in my neck of the woods). I still managed to knit in the evenings :) I hate cleaning but the house looks so good now! LOL
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to make this! It has been a great holiday week both with both biological family and work family. I finished two cowls for gifts...aquicowl will probably be for me to keep (at least the first one)
ReplyDeleteMy son and his beautiful family visited for the whole week. What a treat to spend time with my four granddaughters! The house is now quiet, and my mind is back to knitting and planning. This cowl would be perfect to add to my to do list Happy Holiday knitting to all!
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the best Thanksgivings. I traveled to another state to celebrate with my younger son and his extended family. I haven’t seen him for over a year so this was truly a thankful holiday.

Love this cowl, love those colors! My week, I must confess, was more than a little crazy. Spent Thanksgiving with my mother-in-law who, unfortunately, is now living in a nursing home, due to dementia. So we picked her up, took her to her ranch and celebrated with a turkey and all the sides.

How was my week? I can only say it was TOO SHORT! Excellent Thanksgiving, excellent rest after Thanksgiving, excellent (freaky) weather allowing for outdoor walking and shopping, but sadly it must all come to an end. How I wish I like Mondays, but I don't and it's just around the corner. Love the cowl and mosaic, by the way and would certainly enjoy making it. If I could just convince my husband that some men DO wear cowls...
ReplyDeleteI had an awesome week with my two sons and my daughter-in-law spending a few days with us to celebrate the holiday. We had fun talking, laughing, cooking, eating, and playing board games. I'd love the yarn!

ReplyDeleteMy week was unusual lol. I went out on Black Friday for the first time in over 15 years and it was super stressful! ReplyDeleteHow was this week....well it was challenging but I made the most of it and got through it by knitting. I had to get port put in just over a week ago to help me with my infusions. I have been getting them monthly for almost 3 years and my veins are pretty much gone. The site is finally hurting less and that is a good thing!!! My older brother who used to host our family's Thanksgiving gathering has moved away and my 85 year old father was not up to traveling so my husband and I had Thanksgiving brunch at his independent living home. Nothing like a full turkey dinner at 11:00 AM;) Just chilled with the two most important men in my life watching football on tv as I furiously knitted my second sleeve on my sweater so I can clear the cue for your Lace Mash Up in January:)I was up at the crak of dawn to support my LYS for the Small Business Saturday. I was there at 7:00 am for the event. You received an additional discount if you wore pj's so it was like a big slumber party:) I was really happy yesterday when some friends came over to help my husband and I get the Christmas decorations out of the attic. I have a muscle disease so I can no longer do it. Afterwards we enjoyed a nice dinner of shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta and homemade pumpkin pie and then watched the Notre Dame Stanford football game. Life is good when you have good friends and beautiful yarn to fill your time! rosemaryclark111@yahoo.com

DeleteI wanted to add that one of the reasons this Thanksgiving was so special for me and I am grateful is that over a year ago we were given the news that my Dad's colon cancer had spread and he had 6-12 months to live. Well he is still here:) I stopped by quite a few stores to find him a Mince pie....well I found the last one at the supermarket by his residence and he was so excited to see it. I hope to have many more turkey dinners with him , but making the most of the time we have now. Never take any moment for granted and live every day to the fullest!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Laura! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving - hope you did too! My stepson and his wife are expecting a little girl in February and her parents joined us for the festivities - we had such a great time! Miraculously my turkey came out juicy and all the sides were yummy (whoo hoo!). After we gobbled down the feast, the baby was very active and I got to feel her kick! Soooo exciting...hopefully she liked my cooking. I have been having a blast knitting baby booties, sweaters and bonnets :-). Love the design of your Aquicowl - perfect timing since it is starting to get cold in the Northeast. Fingers crossed that I win the kit! My week or should I say starting with Thursday, we had to have a Thanksgiving brunch as I had to be at work at 1pm since we opened at 2. Got home about 11, did a row or two in my mittens. Back to work on Black Friday, & then worked Saturday. I’m tired running around & my feet hurt, but at least I get today off, not sure how that happened, but it makes me happy. Now to do some laundry.

ReplyDeleteThanksgiving joy abounds in my mind as I have traveled back home. My knitting turned toward wash cloths for Christmas stocking stuffers as our family spent time together. The cowl is gorgeous and I accidentally bought some Cloudborn sock twist in a mini set earlier this year by accident while purchasing a class. So much for remembering you had something in your cart! So, now for the pattern to use this in! I cannot wait and will gladly knit with your special colorway.

ReplyDeleteMy week was great! Time spent with my 94 year old father, including getting to sit on the porch in the sunshine--not something that often happens in WV at Thanksgiving. Got his house decorated for Christmas, went to one of my brothers for Thanksgiving supper, and even squeezed in some knitting time. I've already ordered the kit and an extra yarn color, but neither was this one so I'd love to have it too.

ReplyDeleteI did have to work three days of what was a full week off for everyone else in my department, but it was quiet with no students and that's always nice. And hey, I did get three days off so I'm NOT complaining!
A lovely dinner hosted by my husband's niece, which was very nice (I like my in-laws) although I regret not having any leftovers around the house.
But best of all... some sweet, and all too rare, time off together with my husband.
I didn't get too much knitting time, but I did do some Ravelry browsing and yarn stash shuffling which gave me plenty to dream about. And now one more... this cowl pattern is going in my queue!

ReplyDeleteLast week found most of the family gathered at my brother's home in New Orleans, celebrating Thanksgiving AND my sister's birthday. I took advantage of the time in the air to knit and listen to a recorded book! Love having this kind of uninterrupted time! I've been eyeing the Aquicowl promotion on Craftsy almost as soon as it was revealed and just haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I guess that means I need it, however I couldn't decide on which colorway to pick. I LOVE Blue Warbler, but I was also curious as to how the red gradient would knit up. So the plan last night was to win Blue Warbler and buy Scarlet Ibis. But two tries to post this comment yesterday failed, so I gave up. Then this morning Craftsy extended the promotion for one more day and sweetened the deal with a free gift. Who can resist that? Now it was a no brainer... and then it occurred to me that I could buy additional gradient sets and make multiple Aquicowls for gifts!!! I ended up purchasing the kit in Blue Warbler and added in Scarlet Ibis AND Clarks Nutcracker gradient sets!

ReplyDeleteMy week was absolutely amazing! We celebrated Thanksgiving with my oldest daughter and her family. Then Saturday morning we received the call that my youngest daughter was in labor! We got in the car and drove down to NJ and arrived in time for the birth of our daughter’s first child and our sixth grandchild! Hi Laura! My week was so busy because of the Thanksgiving holiday and traveling. I visited my parents in Binghamton, NY. My dad is not feeling well so I did not bring my children-I just went up alone, which turned out to be very nice. I would love to win this kit. Taracronk on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful cowl. Hope to be the lucky winner. The Blue Warbler set is so pretty. My week was spent knitting mittens for my dear daughter. Being Canadian we had Thanksgiving back in October. I love watching the Macy's parade and drooling over the pictures of turkey and stuffing and pie posted all over.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I just found your blog and LOVE your taste in yarn and patterns! I would love to win the Cloudborn Merino Superwash Sock Twist Mini's in Blue Warbler, heck I would love to win any of your giveaways. I am just sorry I missed the last one for the Brioche Topper hat because that is how I discovered your site!
ReplyDeleteHello Laura, My Thanksgiving was low key but on Saturday we watched a dazzling fireworks display. Love this Aquicowl and the blue warbler colorway are my colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! My week was crazy, as we celebrate Thanksgiving three times in three different places. I was able to get some much needed knitting time in though! We also got our Christmas tree, my son saw Santa, and my daughter went hunting with her dad for the first time! All in all, we are very blessed.

ReplyDeleteWeek was tops you turvy, but full of joy, cause sickly me got to have Thanksgiving with the extended family! Got wrists measured for knitting lots of Laura/Lola cuffs for all the gals. Getting back on the knitting track, picked yarn for Taughannock, and my hand-dyed yarn for Caragh is on the way here! Plus the Transitus yarn. Did lots of browsing all the beauties done by the Nelkinites, so plenty of inspiration about 😍 So I'll be busy and would love the blue warbler beauties.
ReplyDeleteThis week was not too much of a hassle surprisingly. As it gets toward the end of the year, my job usually gets more hectic. I know it's coming, though, so I'm making every week better by taking Fridays off!
