Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders- GIVEAWAY!
Have you seen the latest Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders? Do you have a wee bit of sock stash just waiting for the perfect project? If the answer is yes... YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
Laws, there are 101 patterns to combine with your sock yarn.. from hats, to gloves, shawls, mittens, baby sweaters, jewelry, hand bags... even ornaments. Judith Durant has done a fabulous job with the fourth book in this One-Skein Wonders series! I am proud to say that my Chubby Puppy is a special extra pattern in the Barnes and Noble edition of this book. My girl and I had a great time there the other day visiting with him on their shelves. Schaefer Yarn has 3 projects made with their sock yarn Anne, want to take a peak?
Roses for Rosa Scarf by Judith Durant
G.W.'s Bonnet and Bootees by Melissa Morgan-Oakes
All three of these fabulous designers have become friends of mine over my years of working at Schaefer Yarn (thinking that may be how they got the yarn...) friendship has it's perks, right?
So, when Storey Publishing asked me to do a giveaway I asked Schaefer if they would contribute yarn as well! Here's the deal, with a random number generator the first person picked will win a copy of the book along with your choice of one of the three skeins of yarn show above. (I couldn't choose so you get to!) Leave a comment between now and November 23nd at 12 pm admitting to us all just how many skeins of sock yarn you have stashed and how much this book could help you.. oh, and which color shown is your favorite! They are all one of a kind skeins and VERY special : )!
I probably have a dozen or so skeins stashed, and yet I've (gasp!) never knit a single adult sock. I've knit baby ones, but never adult ones. I've always had a patience issue with wee thready yarns and tiny needles, but now that I have a baby, I swear, the patience switch in my brain just flipped on. So now I can try knitting socks.
ReplyDeleteNice giveaway! I'd love this book. I think I have about 3 skeins of sock yarn, clearly I need more! Love all colors! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for having this giveaway.
I joined the very first Socks That Rock club about four years ago. Around that time my mom became sick and I was travelling to be with her, so the packages just piled up. I still have all of those skeins plus others, so I'd say I have at least 12 skeins of sock yarn waiting for me. The book would be perfect for me.
And, I love the blue and purple in the middle. It would bring my sock yarn stash up to lucky 13!
Thanks again for this chance for the book and great yarn.
Ellen

I think at last count I had 20 skeins of scok yarn (including one Anne skein!). So this book would be great for me. And I really like all of the colors
ReplyDeleteQuick count of skeins: 26. I like the purple
ReplyDeleteMy sock yarn stash is completely out of control - well over 30 skeins, not including a few sweater lots of koigu and STR medium. But there's definitely room for more - particularly the centre skein that epitomizes that space between the sky and the lake as dusk falls on a warm summer evening. Blues and purple and tranquility.
ReplyDeleteI have about 12 skeins of sock yarn, not too much.(I have 22 pairs of hand knit socks, so I guess it's better that my FOs outnumber the yarn. I'm always looking for new patterns!
ReplyDeleteJust read your post on Ravelry, nice blog!! I just came back and I have only 2 skeins of sock yarn but winning this book would certainly increase my stash lol! My favorite color would be the skein on the left! Thanks for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteI only have a few skeins but would absolutely love the gorgeous mulberry colored yarn and oh, the book...I can't wait to try out some of the very creative patterns...who knew you could do so much with sock yarn!!! Thanks for the chance to win!! xoxo Beth
ReplyDeletedear laura, as you know this comes at an appropriate time, i am looking for some socks and this would make my journey begin.. i like the color on the left but would be very happy with all of the colors.. this would make my stash a healthy 1..gotta start somewhere..
ReplyDeleteI have 21 sock yarns in my stash, so I could use this book. I would prefer the first one from the left, the redish-purple-pink. :)
ReplyDeleteI know that it is some where between 3 and 5 dozens skeins. With 1 pair of socks on the needles. I will probley not need that many socks but the yarn just talked to me. So this book would really help.
ReplyDeleteI have 20 to 30 skeins of sock yarn stashed at the moment. There are plans for a lot of it but some is just cause it spoke to me! There is a baby cardi that I love and the purply yarn would be great for my granddaughter's cardi.
ReplyDeleteOh, good grief--between 20-25 skeins of sock yarn, so you can see how much this would be a help! And I love the rosy skein. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm admitting to 42 - the meaning of life, or the roads a woman will walk to satisfy her circle of needs from her feet to her friends shawls. Lovely looking book :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention just how helpful this book would be to me...on second count I have 33 skeins. I need to get busy!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how much yarn I have, but my husband laughs when I buy more. This book would be a great addition to my library. Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou mean, like, how much, hmmmm... I have an armoire that used to be my grandmothers, just for sock yarn! Three drawers, three shelves! I love socks, I love knitting socks, but after ten years of it, I need other projects, besides if all my sock yarn becomes socks, no one on this planet would be bare feeted ;0)
ReplyDeleteI love the blue colorway!
Um... I don't have any sock yarn stashed. For me at least - I've got some stashed for the charity project I'm coordinating (http://yarnfest.wordpress.com ) - but none for me.
ReplyDeleteIf I did have some though - it would take quite a while for me to pinpoint what to make first! :) I do have a daughter away at college who I'm always happy to cast on for!
Oh boy... off the top of my head, I think maybe 15 or so? With one sock weight shawl on the needles and one second sock on the needles. And a ton of scraps. I think the book could help with a few skeins of fingering weight yarn I have that won't be good for socks (too slumpy) but I'm not sure what to do with! Or maybe a special project for the absolutely yummy skein of Tosh Sock I have in my stash. I'm quite partial to that blue-purple skin in the middle, btw. :)
ReplyDeleteI have 18 - enough for 10+ pairs. Plus leftovers, and a pair of socks on the needles. I suppose I don't need this book as much as some but I find the series to be great for inspiration. I like the pink one on the far left best.
ReplyDeleteOh, I probably have 30 skeins of sock yarn in my stash - some are 50 gm some are 100. I'm not counting the leftover sock yarn either. I seem to be attracted to sock yarn. A couple of months ago a friend remarked that I have mainly dark colours so I've tried to buy lighter colours recently.
ReplyDeleteHaving only 2 feet and no one around me who appreciates handknit socks, a book with other ideas for sock yarn would certainly help me get the stash down so I could buy/be gifted with more - I have given out hints for Xmas. danielle
I only have about 5 skeins of sock yarn in my stash - socks are not my favorite thing to knit. I've had a peek at this book and there are many things I know I would knit - especially from the baby section. I absolutely love the skein in the middle with the blues. Thanks for the contest and the chance to win this great book.
ReplyDeleteI have only 12 skeins, but I already have a ton of socks. I would love some gift projects!
ReplyDeleteKaren
I have about 6 or 7, but have never made a pair of socks, but I LOVE working with the sock yarn (I am making a blanket of squares from the stuff I have).
ReplyDeleteI would love to learn projects that I can do with sock yarn.
one 13 gallon tote, plus an xxl hefty bag, plus some free range skeins of sock yarn reside here. I could prolly knit all 101 projects at least once....
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the blue/purple yarn in the middle
I am embarrassed to say I probably have over 75 skeins of sock yarn (and that could be on the cautious side) and I've never knit one sock! Can't do DPNS's to save my soul. I knit shawls with them. Think I clearly NEED THIS BOOK!! I love the two skeins on the left! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI have probably 15-20 skeins of sock yarn stashed. I love this series of books and I think that the blue skein would be right at home here!
ReplyDeleteStill a bit of a newbie, so this book could probably help me out tons. I have about 3 skeins of sock yarn. The pinky-ish skein on the left is my ab-fab fave. xo
ReplyDeleteI love knitting socks! and the second knitting love is fingerless gloves. So I have about 40 hanks/skeins of sock yarn stashed. I love these "One Skein Wonders" books and have knitted some projects from all of them.
ReplyDeleteI like the orange yarn. Out of all my sock yarn stash, I do not have any orange. lol.
Oh geez, Laura...admit to how many sock skeins I have stashed? That would mean counting, and I stopped counting after about 50 pairs' worth. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are definitely gorgeous skeins (though the one on the far right is my fave), and I've been eyeing this book since it came out! Great idea for a giveaway!
TheSexyKnitter
I haven't counted recently, but I know it's over 100. I thought that was totally reasonable until I started reading the comments to this post. I may need to start knitting faster and stop buying more sock yarn! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how many, exactly I have stashed, but I've bought at least 20 skeins in the last 2 months (for Christmas, of course).
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors. I am a yarnaholic, so I have quite a stash. I would love that book for two reasons, I have to get rid of some of my stash before I can sneak anymore yarn in the house, (LOL) and second, I have my first grandbaby coming and need to get him/her a wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI have 8 skeins of sock yarn - this book would definitely help me use it up! Thank you for the opportunity to win it. Also, I like the skein of yarn that's plum in colour, on the left side… thank you!
ReplyDeleteLet's just say that I could knit at least 40 pairs of socks without purchasing any new yarn... I need to branch out to other sock-yarn projects to help me work my way through the stash... and that purply/red skein on the left is my absolute fave. I might be drooling alittle bit right now...
ReplyDeleteI have more than a handful of sock yarns than I want to admit. :) I like all the colors shown, but my favorite is the blue in the middle.
ReplyDeleteRavelry informs me that I have about 56 skeins of sock yarn (mostly 100g, some 50g). Yikes.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to count because that would discourage me from buying more and sometimes you just see something that you must have. My favorite color is the blue/purple but they are all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have at least 20-30 skeins of sock yarn in my stash, waiting to be knit. A lot of them have specific projects "assigned" to them, but of course I'm always open to project-pattern reassignment. That book looks really awesome! And of course, if I use up my sock yarn stash, that just means I have to get more, right? I think my favorite color is the orange!
ReplyDeleteI have WAAAYYYY more than I want to admit! LOVE LOVE LOVE the blue/purple but they are all lovely!
ReplyDeleteI only have 10 skeins of sock yarn, I have just recently been bitten by the sock yarn bug, have almost completed my first pair of socks! I think I would have to go with the blue yarn in the center.
ReplyDeleteI owe about a half a dozen skiens of socks yarn that have yet to be knitted up into the project I intended. I would love to win the book cuz sock yarn is my favorite weight to work with....and I enjoy a on the go project then the sweater project of the moment is too much to handle.....
ReplyDeleteHmm... well i probably have over 200 skeins of sock yarn. A friend needed to sell her yarn and needles and asked me first and well......How could i pass up such a great deal? So yes this book would be well used in my library for quite some time. Do you think i could ever use up that much sock yarn in a lifetime? :)
ReplyDeletesincerely, dani
boots713@charter.net
ooh, i have at least 20 skeins of sock yarn waiting to be used, and about 4 pairs of socks on needles waiting to be finished. i clearly need some help! sock yarn seems to be so much more intricately colored and versatile than heavier weights, but i haven't yet found the project that compels me to finish it.
ReplyDeletethat blue yarn is my favorite, by the way. i don't have anything in that color. yet.... :-)
Let's see ... I have at least 40 skeins of sock yarn in my stash. I can't resist buying it because the colors are all so beautiful. I'd like to get the One-Skein book because I need to use it, just not for dozens of socks.
ReplyDeleteThe blue skein is my favorite. I'm a sucker for blue colorways.
Wow, I just counted up and I have 39 skeins. Eep! That's kind of ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI think my sock stash is at the unlucky 13 skeins! And as I've already supplied the family with socks and am fed up doing them for myself cos for some reason I wear a hole out in the base of the heel (sole) I really could do with some other ideas for sock yarn!
ReplyDeleteI have around 10 skeins of sock yarn stashed away, but many more partial skeins (my mom knits a lot of socks and passes the leftovers off to me).
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this book could easily give me a project for the full skeins, and maybe even some of the partial skeins. Or I could use the partial skeins together to do some scrappy projects.
according to my ravelry stash, there are 90 skeins. However, I know that there are a good number more that haven't made it on there yet.
ReplyDeletethis book would definitely help me find something special for them.
I love the red (ive been on a red kick lately)
I must, somewhat shamefacedly, admit that there are currently over 100 (probably WELL over 100) skeins of sock yarn in my storage bins.
ReplyDeleteSo this book would be ... phew ... so useful! (Not to mention helping me preserve my marriage.)
It is the yarn on the far right that is calling my name, tho they are all just lovely.
I would love the middle yarn - the blues just speak to me. As for skeins - probably about 10 skeins of sock yarn in my stash, plus another 10 that I bought to dye as some point.
ReplyDeleteI have never knit anything with sock yarn! I'm a bulky, big needle addict. But that burnt orange skein and this book look wonderfully inspiring! I might end up with 20 skeins by next week looking at those designs...
ReplyDeleteOoh, beautiful! I think I counted 8 or 10 skeins in my stash. It's good to be prepared, but I clearly should be MORE prepared, by having more yarn, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteAll are gorgeous but the blue is my fave.
Last time I counted I had enough sock yarn to make around 80 pairs of socks. I love wearing handmade socks but I don't knit them very fast.
ReplyDeleteI was in Watkins Glen this summer and stopped in the Finger Lakes yarn shop and fondled all the wonderful Shaeffer yarns they had in stock. The colors are just gorgeous! I think the blue skein is my favorite.
According to Ravelry I have 59. I really didn't want to know that!
ReplyDeleteI actually have 0 sock yarn!
ReplyDeleteI like the pinkroseplum one!
I have about 30 skeins and love the blue! Thanks for this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteWhoa... I just did a count and I'm up at 36 skeins! This book would help me because I didn't even know I had that many so I really need a way to use my lovely yarn. Oh, and I'm not worried about adding more yarn - there's always room in the stash!
ReplyDeleteI have 49 listed on my Ravelry stash page and since I last updated that one I've probably gotten about another 12 more so I'll say I have roughly 60 skeins of sock yarn. No, I don't have a problem...it's a healthy addiction, just like my addiction to coffee. :)
ReplyDeleteHard to choose a favorite color, they are all lovely but I guess I'll say the pink/plum on the left is probably what I would pick.

At the last count I had about 30 skiens of sock yarn. it's very pretty to look at! I keep meaning to knit a pair of socks but the shawls/scarfs just keep getting in the way!
ReplyDeleteStill there's always room for more...
just need to but a few more storage totes?
Ooh - I have 39 skeins of sock yarn, if I believe my spreadsheet. I like the blue/purple one the best. I don't make socks, just shawls with my sock yarn.
ReplyDeleteI have maybe a dozen skeins of sock yarn...but I never knit socks! I just like the yarn. I would like to buy MORE sock yarn because it's pretty and I like it. This book would be perfect because then I wouldn't just stare at skeins of sock yarn thinking "okay, now what?" ;) I love the blue...
ReplyDeleteI've 32 skeins, if Ravelry's to be believed. Oops, that's a lotta skeins of fingering!
ReplyDeleteHow much sock yarn? Probably between 30 and 40 skeins, but I thought sock yarn didn't count in the stash anyway!
ReplyDeleteThe bluepurple in the middle is gorgeous!
I have at least 20 skeins of sock yarn currently stashed away. While I love socks, I would love some fresh ideas on how to use up my stash! I have so many great skeins that need some love... I know this book would help! I love love that pinkish purple skein on the left. :)
ReplyDeleteoh my, I only have two, but I'm new to the yarn scene.
ReplyDeleteI think I have around 15 -- but some are duplicates and intended for a larger project. I'm partial to the flame-colored skein on the right!
ReplyDeleteAccording to Ravelry I have 15 full skeins and 8 partial skeins. Sounds surprisingly manageable, doesn't it. I'm trying to be good until SockSummit 2011. I'd be particularly interested to see if there are patterns in the book that use <200 yards. I often have that much left over after knitting a pair of socks and don't know what to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue! Although I always like blue, so I might have to branch out a little and pick the orange...
I have yarn stashed for at least 50 pairs of socks but then I've also knitted more than 70 pairs in the last five years! I'm now using sock yarn for gloves, cowls, and shawlettes so this book would give me lots of new uses for my yarn. My favorite color is the blue yarn with red a close second. Please pick me to win this book and yarn!
ReplyDeleteI think I have over a hundred skeins of sock yarn but some of them are only 50 grams and so a pair of socks takes 2 skeins. Also are really intended for shawls so perhaps those shouldn't count.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I do have a problem with the size of my stash that this book could help with.
I have a confession to make: I've never made socks before, so my sock yarn stash is currently 0. I've always wanted to knit socks and somehow never gotten around to it. This book and my very own skein of sock yarn would definitely be the motivation I've been looking for. :D
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love the magenta.
Hm, how many skeins of sock yarn do I have? (Well, most of them are balls, actually...) You mean I have to go and empty the crate? And the other crate? And the bag? And count the ones in packs on the shelf? Really? Oh well... This may take some time.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm counting, I'll be drooling over the blue in the middle.
....
OK, about ten minutes later, I make it about 110. Some are 50g, some 100g - the 50g ones may get used singly or striped. And that's not counting the balls of what are technically sock yarn that are waiting to be used for robes for Harry Potterverse dolls!
I actually had a look at this book today - a friend had been sent a copy by a friend of hers in the US. I couldn't help salivating at some of the things that I could use my stash on - I did rather like the Zaubertote!

I was just looking at this book the other day and thinking I should add it to my holiday wish list! However it would be even more fun to win it along with some beautiful Schaefer Yarn! I am willing to admit to having at least 50 skeins of sock yarn in my stash - this book would be a great way to use some of them for things that don't go on my feet. :-)

I have....a bunch of sock skeins in my stash haha, and I'm not much of a "sock" knitter, I love the weight though and use it for tons of other projects :) If i had to choose just one favorite from the 3...I think it'd be the pretty red/orange on the far right :D
ReplyDeleteI just reorganized my stash recently and I must have at least 20 skeins of sock yarn. (slight blush) My friend has a pattern in this book so I would love to own it.
ReplyDeleteThe blue skein in the middle is my fave.
Thanks for the giveaway.
I have 132 skeins of sock yarn, and over 100 of them are full skeins. Some of them are too pretty for socks (and also non-superwash).
ReplyDeleteThe middle blue one is nice but the brown one to the left attracts me more.
I don't have a lot of sock yarn stashed but I do think this book would help to remedy that :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI would love to have the book and the blue skein is beautiful.
Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Sylvia
I have at least 50-60 skeins of sock yarn, and while I love knitting socks, I also really enjoy making shawls, scarves etc. I'd love this book, and the yarn on the left is my favourite, but I'd be happy with any of them
ReplyDeleteI have 37 skeins of sock yarn (that I can find on short notice). While I do like knitting socks, I don't really want 37 pairs of socks (and I'm a fairly selfish knitter) and this book would help give me ideas of what to do with this part of my stash (especially the stuff that would felt).
ReplyDeleteThe posted comments make me feel a LITTLE less guilty! I have close to 35. I have been coveting this book. My fingers are crossed.
ReplyDeleteI have about 15 skeins counting the socks and fingerless gloves I have on my needles. I love the One Skein series and would love to add this to my collection. I love all the colors but I guess my absolute fav would be the blue. Thanks for such a cool give away!
ReplyDeleteCount? Who counts their sock yarn? I thought sock yarn wasn't supposed to be considered stash. If it is, I am in big trouble and really need the book. I love the red and orange colorway on the right. Thanks for making this great offer.
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Days! Have at least 26 Skeins and I almost never knit socks! But the yarn is just the best isn't it!
ReplyDeleteAm I allowed to enter if I have no stash of sock yarn? (honestly!) My stash is chunkier stuff right now (worsted weight-ish) but I would love to buy some sock yarn to try out these projects! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have around 50 skeins of sock yarn. I cannot lie. It's overtaking my living room and there are just so many socks a girl can knit.
ReplyDeleteI would love patterns for things other than socks and would treasure the book and the yarn always.
I have at least 20 skeins of sock yarn and I can't stop buying more. This book looks like a great form of stash management.
ReplyDeleteI only have 2 or 3 skeins of sock yarn in my stash - guess I need to add some! And one skein projects are great for holiday knitting, so the book would be wonderful to have in November. I like each of the one-of-a-kind skeins, but I think the pink/mulberry one is my favorite. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAccording to my stash on Ravelry, 14 skeins! And I have to admit I prefer to use sock yarn for mittens rather than socks...
ReplyDeleteI have about 10 skeins of sock yarn, but I like thicker socks (especially this time of year) so that frees the sock yarn up for other things. I like the red-orange color.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite LYS closed within 2 months of each other. I bought oodles of yarn from one and the actual display bins from the second. I have approximately eleven feet of storage packed with yarn. More than 100 years of knitting if I knit every day, all day yet there is always more more more. I could use this book to help clear the stash. My favorite colour is tomato red- the red that leans towards orange. Pick me please
ReplyDeleteYikes - 43 skeins of sock yarn in my stash!!! I definitely need this book :) And at this point, what's one more skein? Loves me some Shaefer yarn...
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI have a very modest 26 skeins of sock yarn. Not bad, but I don't intend to knit socks with them! I've had a sneak peak of the book, and it is excellent - so many items in there I would love to knit from the yarn I have, and others I would have to buy yarn just for.
ReplyDeleteI usually go for blues and purples, but the red to the right of the photo is quite stunning, and would make a wonderful Roses for Rosa scarf.
I think I'm quite middle of the road in my stash count, I know people with 4 or 5 times more, and people with a lot less.
Oh dear: probably 20 or 25 skeins of sock yarn.... And since I only knit one pair of socks at a time (and I knit a lot of things other than socks), well, having a nice book with some good suggestions to do with all my (mostly variegated) sock yarn would help work that stash right down...so I can buy some more, of course!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing I have about 20 skeins of sock yarn stashed away. It's my goal this winter to make a bunch of small projects and use some of it up. This book would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I am in the middle of the pack with skeins stashed - probably about 20 or 25. I want the B&N version with the chubby puppy pattern! ; ) My little cousin is wanting a doggie.
ReplyDeletei'm always looking for some good knit for my sock yarn collection! finally a book!
ReplyDeleteI have around 39 skeins of sock yarn, give or take a few. =) Most of them are not destined for socks, and that book looks like just the ticket for knitting down the stash.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have an unreasonable amount of sock yarn stashed - probably 8 - 10 skeins. This book would totally help me, because I don't really like knitting socks, but I love sock yarn! And my favorite of the yarns pictured is the purpley-mauvey skein on the left!
ReplyDeleteI only have about 6 skeins of sock yarn stashed, so gosh, I probably really need to win some of that beautiful yarn in the giveaway! (The purple is catching my eye...)That book would be super helpful to me. I have a new little grandbaby on the way who will definately need some new socks!
ReplyDeleteMy sock yarn stash is a measly 13 skeins. But what an unlucky number! Winning the skein (preferrably the one on the far left) would help me get to a safer 14. And winning the book would not only help me knit some of that yarn into projects that don't just hide on my feet (though I do like to knit socks), but would probably also justify the purchase of more sock yarn. And there's nothing quite as useful as an excuse to buy yarn!
ReplyDeleteoh, 27 or so, but I might have hidden some....Socks are my favorite project since they get finished fairly quickly. The book would be great, since I figure anything that only uses one skein of sock yarn must be about as much knitting as a pair of socks!!! Love the yarn in the middle...
ReplyDeleteLast time I checked I had about 15 skeins of sock yarn. It might be up a few since then . . . I really like all 3 colors, but since I have red/purple sock yarn and mixed blues sock yarn stashed, I'd choose the orangy mix since I have nothing in that color! I've got the sock book as the highest priority on my Amazon wish list, so I'd love to win the book!
ReplyDeleteI have over 50 skeins of sock yarn ( and much more...i was too embarrassed to keep counting!) the red skein on the right would be a lovely addition to my stash :) I have the book on mywishlist for Christmas, but an early gift would be nice!
ReplyDeleteOK, you made me do it - you made me go count. I have 22 skeins of sock yarn, plus 2 partial skeins that are being transformed into socks. Some are 50 gram balls, some are 100; I would guesstimate that I have 1,700 grams of sock yarn.
ReplyDeleteThis book would help me transform all that glorious stuff into projects that suited the yarn well. Much of my yarn has a lot of personality, and I want each of my lovely skeins to have the opportunity to become something that is perfect for it.
Of course all three skeins are lovely. I always have a hard time choosing a favorite anything. How about I rank them? My ranking, in order of (slight) preference, is leftmost - rightmost - center.
Finally, I am LOVING your Eventide pattern.
In my craft room/office I have over 30 skeins. There are more upstairs in my closet, but I'm a little afraid to count them all. I probably have at least 60 skeins of sock yarn.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I go in my LYS, I look at this book. It has some awesome patterns. I can't believe they all take one skein!
My favorite skein in the picture above is the blue/purple skein.
I'm not really a stash buyer (I generally only buy when I have a project in mind). However, probably 80% of my impulse purchases have been sock yarn. So I probably have 10 or so skeins hanging about right now. And I love to make things other than socks with them so I'd love this book!
ReplyDeleteI think I have enough sock yarn for about 15 pairs of socks, although I haven't counted recently (some of it is in 50 gram skeins, so the number of skeins is higher than that). I think this book would be especially helpful for finding ways to use the yarns that are too pretty to go on my feet. I love the orangey-red skein on the right (and also the centre blue skein).
ReplyDeleteikkinlala AT yahoo DOT ca
thanks for the lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeletei may only have 2 skeins of sock yarn... i've been wanting to learn sock knitting for a long time, but all this brand new baby life has slowed me down just a little. :)
i love the blue/purple or the wine coloured yarns.
I have 27 skeins of sock yarn, because I live in hope of knitting socks someday. Meanwhile, I am knitting lacy scarves with it. I love the blue colorway.
ReplyDeleteI found forty two skeins though some aren't big enough to make a pair of socks and some were definitely purchased to make other items because, while I know HOW to knit socks, I have rarely completed a pair and have commissioned the three pair I now own to wear myself.
ReplyDeleteI have zero skeins of sock yarn in my stash. I destashed 4 skeins that I didn't like and I am using the last 2 skeins for assorted small stuff for my toddler.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 skeins of cotton/nylon sock yarn and 2 skeins of my usual wool. I have never knit anything BUT socks with sock yarn, and would love to try lots of other projects. That way I can buy more sock yarn. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteI have more skeins of sock yarn than I can count, and I keep looking at de-stashes like I am going to run out soon. I just love sock yarn, the colors, the patterns, when it stripes itself. I have just started to knit socks again, and I must say I do love toe-up. Top down was just not for me.
ReplyDeleteI currently have 2 large space saver bags full of yarn. According to Ravelry I have 256 skeins but I know I have yet to stash all my yarn. I would love the book as I don't knit socks but love sock yarn. I am very drawn to the wine or orange yarn above.
ReplyDeleteI have about 7 skeins of sock yarn, but it's the kind of yarn that I look to each time that I window shop. I've received several single skeins, and always feel that it's not enough to make something neat and usable. This book would give me some solid suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the blues - the color and the music. :)

What a gorgeous orange!! I'm currently knitting down stash, so only have a couple of sock yarns left. The book looks like an excellent source of patterns for gifts and donations! Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThis book looks just perfect for helping me decide what to do with the 6 or so skeins of sock yarn I have sat waiting for the perfect project.
ReplyDeleteOh wait, I also have another 12 skeins in the loft, but those were bought to make presents out of which I haven't quite gotten around to yet... they don't count do they? ;o)
That middle skein is beautiful with those blues and purples :o) I bet with that and the book I would be inspired to pick up my sock needles and get knitting! :o)
I have one skein of sock yarn in my stash. I have been very diligent in using my sock yarn before purchasing any more.
ReplyDeleteDeborah
I counted at least enough yarn to make 25 pair of socks (some all on one skein and some from two, so finished pairs is a more accurate stash count). That isn't counting the 3 pair I currently have on needles. I totally need to win the book, but I don't know if I NEED more yarn to come with it. wait. of course I do. ;)
ReplyDeletelove love love the gorgeous purple and fusia skein (the left most in the photo)
ReplyDeleteit would make a great knitted gift for my niece as these are her favourite girly girl colours
currently I have one ball of sock yarn via my fave thrift store

thanks for the contest!
Counting the yarn I purchased for the Anna Mystery Shawl, I have 8 skeins of sock yarn. I would love the blue.purple!
ReplyDeleteI have enough sock yarn for 10 pairs.Funny thing is i have only made 1 pair so far. This sure would be a nice Birhtday pressy since my bday is 11/23.
ReplyDeleteGreat contest, thank you! Love the blueish skein. I have many (more than 40) skiens of sock yarn. It follows me home, it comes in the mail, etc. I'm a Sundara junkie and a koigu junky and let me say that Shaefer yarns are AWESOME, too.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my Rav stash I have 41 skeins of sock yarn, though there may be a handful I haven't gotten round to adding yet. Most of my stash is sock yarn - I can't enough of the stuff (though I know my stash is only of baby proportions compared to some!).
ReplyDeletelupa on Rav :)
I have so many balls of sock yarn (more than a dozen :) which I have picked up in my travels and stored in rubbermaid boxes, according to weight and make - and then there are the skeins in bags ready to knit socks for people ... the list goes on! I must expand my pattern repertoire! My colour this year is aqua, so would love that skein if I am lucky enough to win more yarn along with another great book!
ReplyDeleteThe stash has 60 skeins cause i asked for colorway kits from Knitpicks 2 years ago and have acquired just can't resist others, to be truthful I have knitted 4 pairs of socks - and am working on another - my new problem is what to do with the leftovers -- think i will be making a mitered square scarf eventually -- the book would be a great addition to my also growing library. any colorway works
ReplyDeleteRealistically I believe I only have about a handful of sock yarn- maybe 5-6 skeins? I've knit 2 pairs of socks and a shawl too so I have some leftover scraps as well.
ReplyDeleteThis would come in handy for me because I've discovered the magic of sock yarn isn't just for socks!
(and I LOVE Schaefer! I just picked up a new skein of Nichole- my new favorite, it's so squishy and I just can't get enough!)
I have about 15 skiens and this book would solve me "what to do with them problem.
ReplyDeleteI have about 15 skiens and this book would solve me "what to do with them problem.
ReplyDeleteooops.. sorry last post I forgot to add my last name...
I only have about 10 new skeins of sock yarn in the stash but have that many left over, partial skeins. I used some leftovers to make the sock yarn blankie. I use others to make fingerless mitts for my daughter who has Reynaud's Syndrome and cannot afford to let her hands get cold while working outside as a corrections officer. I do make baby socks now and then, also from leftovers. .
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I just counted my sock yarn stash. I didn't realize I had so many--45 skeins. Probably not a lot compared to other stashes, but way more than I thought I had. I just love sock yarns! LoL Great book, looking forward to knitting a few things from it. I love the blue yarn in the middle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the trip to your blog, and the great offering. Good luck everyone!
I have about a dozen skeins of sock yarn in my stash. This book would help me out with knitting up all this yarn before it grows into more and more. My favorite color of the skeins shown is the red/orange one. This is my favorite color combo!
ReplyDeleteI only have 8 skeins of red and white that could be used as sock yarn, and one skein of special malabrigo I've been scared to use. I'm fairly new to socks. I like pink yarn!
ReplyDeletePick me Pick me!

I only have about 4-6 skeins of sock yarn right now, but I'd love to add that blue skein in the middle to the family.
ReplyDeleteI only have 4 or 5 balls of sock yarn, but lots of other yarns.
ReplyDeleteI am totally loving the blue-purple skein! Beautiful! Thanks for the giveaway.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI have 12 skeins of sock yarn in my stash and I find this book very interesting...
My favorite skein is the red one.
Thank you for the oportunity : )
Oh my goodness, I just counted all my sock yarn-60 skeins! Oh I could really use this book for some ideas to destash this yarn!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue color in the center. Hope I win.
Marianne
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway! Alright time to fess up. I've got 12-15 skeins for certain, though I just started playing with the yarn after it's sat for a year. I'm working on knitting and learning a lot,so I can make socks or shawls and this book and that beautiful orangey red/brown on the right side would really make something beautiful! Thanks again for the contest!
Tiffany C.
I'm admitting to 26 skeins of sock yarn, but I am NOT counting similarly weighted yarn that is intended for non-sock purposes. (:
ReplyDeleteMy favorite skein pictured is the blue/purple in the center, though the red on the right is growing on me.
My current count would be 24 skeins, that's not counting my 2 skeins of Wollmeise 100% Merino either because that's fingering not sock... Or the half skein waiting on me making more toddler sized socks, or the 5 more skeins expected through my sock club... While some of them will get made into socks, other ideas would be great!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite int eh autumnal skein on the right
i only have 9 skeins stashed.....two each of three colorways, and another three skeins of related colorways (sock-spun hand-dyed alpaca!!)....and it's actually all technically destined for socks!!
ReplyDeletewait, there is also the two skeins of gloss.....those are destined for fingerless mitts.
i love the colors in sock yarn though, it seems that there are always such gorgeous colorways but only in sock weight!! this book would give me an excuse to buy the yarn, cause i'd have something to do wtih it.....
i really don't think i could choose between the skeins...they're all gorgeous!! the blue is really calling a little louder than the others though.....

I having only been knitting for about a year. At first I said I would NEVER knit socks. Well, now I have knit 7 pairs of socks and have enough yarn for 20 more pairs. My first non hat/scarf knitting project came from 'One More Skien'.
ReplyDeleteI like the last skein the best, red orange.
But they are all beautiful.
Thank you,
Susan
hmmm.. I think i have 11 or 12, if I don't count exactly I can still be in denial right? ;
ReplyDeleteI counted 18 skeins. There may be a couple more that I couldn't find. There were a couple of skeins in the box that I forgot about. I guess it's time to get that personal sock club started.
ReplyDeleteI also have a box, the same size as the one I keep my sock yarn stash in, full of left over sock yarn. The plan is to make a Barn Raising Quilt then, start a mitered square blanket.
New ideas to use up some of the stash will be a bonus.
Lynn

My mil gave me her complete sock yarn stash, since she decided only to use her own handspun. That is 2,3kg of yarn - so 23 skein plus 3 skein I bought myself. I think I am really in need of your book :D
ReplyDelete-rebekka on ravelry
I have about 9 skeins stashed, including three of sock-weight handspun I just finished (my first!) that I actually *don't* want to use for socks -- this book sounds like just the ticket. I especially like the blue :-)
ReplyDelete-klanev on Ravelry
I have lost count of the number of skeins of sock yarn I have. Atleast 50 and counting. I would love this book and use up my stash. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh boy...I have 30+ skeins of sock yarn...eek! I need this book!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I can count that high but I do have a 8-gallon Rubbermade tub stuffed full of sock yarns. One of my favorite skeins being a skein of Schaefer Anne.
ReplyDeleteI have 5 skeins of sock yarn with no firm plans and two skeins with timeline and pattern to use.
ReplyDeleteI could use the book!
How much sock yarn do I have?? Oh my, at least 20 skeins. I also knit socks with heavier yarns (sport, worsted, etc.) but I am not counting those! I LOVE that middle blue/purple skein. Must figure a way to get this book if I don't win. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have at least 50! but what is one more?!? would love to have a copy of the book
ReplyDeletecyndi-mailatcoxdotnet
I have nine skeins of sock yarn, but I can't bring myself to knit socks with them because they're way too gorgeous to use for something that will be hidden in my shoes, and which will wear out.
ReplyDeleteSo I could really use this book!
I think I have around 15 skeins. I would love to knit some of the baby things for my new baby and my new niece. gidgettm on ravelry
ReplyDeleteI started sorting my stash overflow a few weeks ago and my sock yarn alone fills 12 30 qt cat litter buckets.
ReplyDeleteJust 2 skeins of sock yarn. Clearly not enough. Would love a copy of the book. Ideas for sock yarn that isn't socks is fab!
ReplyDelete*supresses giggle*
ReplyDeleteTECHNICALLY I only have one skein of sock yarn stashed (Lola). Since the other 12 skeins are meant for projects other than socks. This allows me to say with all honesty to my husband "I only have one skein of sock yarn, baby....this is why I NEED ________"
I have had this book in my hand SEVERAL times to purchase, winning it would mean I could spend more money on yarn!
Scared to count how many skeins I have. Probaby 40 or so. My favourite yarn is the magenta on the left - it's more subtle than the other two. Would love the book!
ReplyDeleteI seem so horribly deprived as I only have 7 or 8.... that blue is just soooo pretty! I do have lots of other fingering weight non-sock yarns, but only a few true sock yarns. However, looks like several of the patterns would work fine for non-socks, so I may have to get my hands on a copy!
ReplyDeleteOh man, could I use this book! I've managed to narrow down my sock yarn stash in the last couple of months, but yet it still sits at 42 skeins of sock yarn. All of those are enough to make one pair of socks. 42 pairs of socks is a lot of socks.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have more things to make with my sock yarn that's not socks!
Whoops! Wasn't logged in, above comment was mine
ReplyDeleteJust 2 skeins of sock yarn. Clearly not enough. Would love a copy of the book. Ideas for sock yarn that isn't socks is fab!
Fortunately (or un-) I have about 20 years worth of sock knitting pleasure ahead of me with the sock yarn I have stashed. I figured out that at my current rate (knitting an average of 12 pairs a year), it will take me over twenty years to knit up all of my sock yarn. That's over 240 skeins of sock yarn. everybody. Yes, I do have some sock yarn stashed. I did start a beret yesterday using sock yarn, and also use it for mitts, cowls and shawls, but I keep buying more, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, Laura!
I have about 5 or 6 skeins, which isn't that much I suppose, but I have never knit a pair of socks! I have used it for shawls and scarves though, so I'm not completely hopeless.

Ohh, I don't know for sure. Just guessing, based on what I have loaded in Ravelry, and how much I know is not loaded. . . I think I have close to 100. I can only knit so many socks at a time, due to my vow to not buy too many needles in the same size. So this book would help me knit up my sock yarn on differently sized needles ;)
ReplyDeleteRavelry claims 53 skeins of sock yarn. I believe it.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any sock yarn, so it would be fun to win the book and the purple/blue Schaefer yarn to begin my very own sock yarn collection with
ReplyDeleteI haven't knitted socks for about 40 years, so I wasn't interested in the new One Skein book (I have the other 3).
ReplyDeleteBut after looking at it at the bookstore, I'm stoked!
The sock yarns I find now are inspiring, and I use them a lot for shawls, baby clothes, accessories, as a 'carry on' to add colorways.
Oh, no-I have so much sock yarn stashed that I definite dont need another skein! But the book would b good to help me work the hehe stash down! Conservative guess would be 220 skeins or so...! My gave of the above is probably the blue ( tho usually it would be the far right warm one!)
ReplyDeleteI probably have 20 skeins of sock yarn on hand and since I live in S. Florida I never wear socks. But I do use it for shawls and would love to know some other uses. The blue/purple skein in the middle is truly yummy. I see another shawl in my future.
ReplyDeleteOh, my...to count my stash for socks is difficult since it's located in half a dozen places (can you tell I can't pass up a sale on sock yarn?). I'm definitely a sockaholic but this book would be great to share with my Mom. I like the fall colors so the orange colorway would be my fav although I also like the blue. Let's face it, I like them all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest......always fun to read others comments as well.
Cindy
Looking on Rav, I have 91 skeins of sock yarn, plus I've two on their way, and I know I've got at least another 10ish not on Rav, so over 100!
ReplyDeleteThis book has been preordered on amazon but its not out here until next year, so to get it early would be fantastic! I need this book..
I have no idea how many skeins of sock yarn I have because when I see a colorway I love, I just have to buy it. I love the blue/purple colorway the best. I have quite a bit of Schaefer yarn just waiting for a project, so winning this book could be the answer.
ReplyDeleteI have so many skeins of sock yarn, I can't count them all and I, too, have them hidden all throughout my house! LOL I love the blue/purple yarn in the middle.
ReplyDeleteDiane
I actually only have 3 which is terribly depressing because sock yarn is as necessary as air. The Blue colorway is my absolute fav. It reminds me of winter and christmas and GETTING MORE SOCK YARN.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE purple so that skein on the left is my favorite! I don't have a lot of sock yarn in my stash, 15-20 skeins, but it is my indulgence yarn I allow myself to buy with no project in mine. This book would really help me get all that lovely yarn out of it's bin and turn it into beautiful knitwear.
ReplyDeleteI've got about 10 skeins of sock yarn in my stash, which is actually a lot for me! I try not to have much of a stash, because I have no room for it, but it's so easy to buy sock yarn... this book looks like a great way to control my stash! (I can only knit so many pairs of socks...)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the orange yarn!
Exactly 9 skeins of sock yarn in the stash area awaiting some new patterns (from the book) to knit and keep and gift. Love, love the first colorway. Love it! Good luck everyone. Carol
ReplyDeleteI think I have about 9 or 10 skeins of sock yarn at the moment, and I'm always looking for quick one skein projects - so the book would be wonderful. Plus I love the blue (middle) colourway.
ReplyDeleteI have 10-12 skeins of sock yarn at the moment, and am looking out for ways to best make the most of it... I love sock yarn, but not necessarily to make socks with it! So to get some ideas would be awesome...
ReplyDeleteI love the red colourway... very pretty... :D
Laura, I always have sock yarn on hand. I know that there are at least 10 different kinds in my stash with 2 skeins of each. Love working with sock patterns and the skinny yarns! This book would be great to clear some of the yarn out and have great projects to work on. I like the roses (left) and the blues (middle).
ReplyDeleteI have about 8 skeins and have only completed 3/4 of my first sock! This book sure would come in handy!
ReplyDeleteOnly about five or six. I love the yarn on the right! As for how much this book would help me - it would help me buy more sock yarn!
ReplyDeleteOh I need help. I have way too many skeins of sock yarn to count and am just now starting to knit socks more than before. Making them for gifts too. Of course, some of the sock yarn was purchased to make a lace shawl, so not all is set aside for socks. Afterall, as shown in this book, there are lots of fun things to make with a skein of sock yarn...I could really use the book and another skein of Anne wouldn't hurt either...favorite color? Purple (like there is any other color in my sky?)
ReplyDeleteI have five skeins of sock yarn, not including the one that's on my needles right now. But I sure could use more! I'd like some bluish-purplish, or gray, or green or...
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice book, too.
I have 25-30 skeins of sock yarn and hope to have more in the future - I would love to have a few more ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteTwenty-three! And some of it is handspun which might be short on yardage to make socks, so a book like this would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI probably have fifteen skeins of sock yarn right now, not counting the WIP in my purse. I love to knit socks, but I only have one pair of feet! I need some new ideas for these gorgeous yarns.
ReplyDeleteMy stash is sorely lacking in the sock yarn department so winning this would add more sock yarn and would give me more ideas!
ReplyDeleteI have four skeins :-(
I've got 13 skeins of sock yarn, and about five partial skeins waiting for inspiration. I love sock-knitting but feel I should broaden my horizons...
ReplyDeleteMy favourite skein is the blue-purple one in the middle :)
According to Rav, I have 61 skeins of fingering weight yarn!!! I obviously need more. I love the oranges and the blues.
ReplyDeleteI have any where from 12-16 store bought skeins and 5-10 homespun skeins.I usually have at least one pair on the needles and one in a project bag. Before my trip to St Paul Minnesota I had much less, but being in several "real" knitting stores, knocked the sense right out of me and I went a little daft(had to call hubby and tell him to hold off on buying a new sink as I had sunk the sink money in yarn) he laughed and was thrilled that I had such a wonderful time in the yarn places...(he doesn't care for handmade socks) but I do!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE knitting with sock yarn (and not just socks!) so I'm sure the book would be extremely useful to me. How much sock yarn do I have? Um, honestly? I have no idea! Probably over 35 full skeins and over 200 mini skeins, remnants and mill ends. I like the deep-red colored skein the best (i'm bebo on Ravelry).
ReplyDeleteI have over 75 skeins of sock yarn, and am only on my 3rd pair of socks. I definitely need this book to whittle my stash down, if only I could knit fast enough to keep up with purchasing! I love the pink skein!
ReplyDeleteI am basilicali on ravelry.
I love sock yarn. I have approx. 40(!) skeins in my stash at the moment. I don't have plans for the majority of it, but it was just so pretty...!
ReplyDeleteI have about 20 skeins of sock yarn, and I've never knit a sock with sock yarn! I have in fact knit two pairs of socks, but they were experiments knitted with worsted weight. I love sock yarn for the variety of colors and the endless possibilities it presents. I do intend to learn to knit socks from sock yarn, but there are so many other things to do with it...
ReplyDeleteI'm LydiaR on Ravelry.
