Half Life Shawl: A New Pattern and Yarn Giveaway!
Phew, I know I've been teasing about this shawl for a while! Half Life is finally ready!
Half Life is a triangular version of Life Cycle from my Craftsy Class, Lace from the Inside Out. Worked flat, from the top down starting with a garter tab, Half Life is a study of double sided lace stitches that flow seamlessly from one section to the next. The stitches for Half Life are both charted and written out, to help you grow both your lace knitting and chart reading skills! I've set up a thread in my Ravelry group for those of you who are ready to cast on and might have questions!
Half Life can be knit in either Fingering, Light Fingering or Lace weight yarn, all you need to do is get gauge. I used a yarn I had been wanting to use for quite some time, Wollmeise Lace Garn in Petersilie (parsley).OH.MY.GOODNESS.... LOVE this yarn. It's a bit heavier than your typical lace weight and is constructed of 6 thin plies that give the yarn a smooth even construction making it easy to knit! It's soft and drapey, and rather perfect! Also, the skein has 1740 yards (1591 meters) on it! So, although I knit the large, there is still enough left over to knit a smaller version of Half Life as well.
Lace Garn isn't the easiest to get, and I did write a blog post about how to go about buying it when it arrived in August. It's also possible to find as a destash on Ravelry and sometimes The Loopy Ewe gets a shipment in, but that goes quickly!
Since I have so much yarn left over (and no plans to knit another Half Life) I decided one of you should get the rest of my skein which is enough for the smaller version! Who wants to win that? Just head over to Ravelry and queue Half Life and then leave a comment below with a way to get in touch with you... I'll leave commenting open until the end of the day Tuesday October 15th. I'll get your yarn out to you quickly so you can cast on ASAP!

ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued and enchanted by the dancing lace patterns, I love that this shawl design has "something to hide" - you can't quite "read" the knitting to determine the stitches. This is my very favorite kind of design, it's not merely beautiful, it's beguiling.
ReplyDelete(...And *sigh* it just happens to be sampled up in my favorite color.) In my queue, and project page started, because in the (likely) event that some other deserving Raveler is the lucky stash-share winner, I'll start auditioning some of my own (green!) yarns... -meadowplum on Ravelry
