Your Help... and a giveaway!
As a thanks for your help, how about a giveway? When I was in NYC at Vogue Knitting Live Ysolda gave me TWO copies of her new book Whimsical Little Knits 3... this book hasn't even shipped yet, so I know you don't have a copy! Want to win one? It is AWESOME! I particularly love the Narwhal Mittens AND I think that Sherilyn would be lovely with beads!
All you have to do is answer the survey above and leave a comment here. Please remember to leave a way for me to get in touch with you! The giveaway will be open until Tuesday January 31st at 12 noon EST. I'll pick a random winner AND let you know which beads I'll be using. Feel free to share this giveaway with your friends... the more opinions the better!
I'm off to Minden, Nevada tomorrow to teach at the Pioneer Yarn Company and enjoy Lake Tahoe... I'm sure to have some great pics and stories next week!
Oooh! LOVE Ysolda! All of her work is awesome, and I'm sure this book is, too :)
ReplyDeletetwitter: @freshstitches
I really think the small sparkly grey beads and the larger beads along the edge make a great combination! Those would be my choices to pair with that beautiful yarn :).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you willend up with. Looks like fun!
I am so thrilled to have discovered your blog. I've been working with beads for ages but have only recently learned to knit - so lovely to see all your pretties here!
ReplyDeleteI've cast my vote & look forward to whatever you decide...hard to go wrong with any of these choices :>]]
All of the bead choices are lovely. But I am partial to the lavender. As it seems I am in the minority, so far.
ReplyDeleteRavID: RainMomma
The lavender-lined large beads are my favorite. They don't seem to stand out...in fact, I almost missed them running up the side, but I think out of the four choices, they are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteravelry: LauraBGM
I voted woth the majority :-) And I'd love Ysolda's new book!
ReplyDeleteMy vote was for the sparkly grey and lavender beads but they all look nice.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it is going to be a lovely design.
ReplyDeleteI love your giveaway too! ♥
I love Ysolda--you guys should collaborate on a design, I'm sure it would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThey're all pretty, but since I have to choose, I like the sparkly grey small beads, but I'm on the fence with the big beads. schmath@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI like the silver lined small beads. They don't compete as much with the yarn and let the design stand out a bit more, but still have that lovely beaded sparkle. But... I'm kind of at a draw with the larger beads. I like the taupe beads myself, but the gleam of the lavender beads stands out more. I think it is a better pairing with the small silver-lined beads, and gives that little extra flash. Either way I can't wait to see the finished project!
ReplyDeleteI voted for silver with lavender. Lovely prize and lovely new piece.
ReplyDeleteI've got a thing for sparkly, so I naturally had to vote for the sparkly grey with sparkly lavender.
ReplyDeleteI would chose Lavender lined and Silver lined beads
ReplyDeletehave a nice evening !
really pretty design! was so hard to choose the beads! also what a fantastic give away!
ReplyDeleteThey're all lovely, but I cast a vote for one of them. Can't wait to see what wins (and thank you for the chance to win this book!)
ReplyDeletespcase at gmail dot com
I voted Sparkly Grey and Taupe. Fancy but still fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the first choice combination. Can't wait to see the end result.
ReplyDeleteLove the grey/lavender combination. Many of Ysola's patterns would be gorgeous with beads added!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with any of the selections.
ReplyDeletejspotter at mac dot com
I went with option 3. I think you need something that stands out on the stitches, and something a bit more subtle on the yarnovers.
ReplyDeleteI love the yarn you used in the swatch, the colour is beautiful!
I love the way the lavender lined large beads pop, and the grey small beads go with them so well.
ReplyDeleteI definitely prefer the lavender large beads. The taupe ones blend in too much. I voted for the sparkly gray smalls but the silver lined nice too.
ReplyDeleteCan hardly wait to see what the finished product reveals! I need to thank you for giving me some "knitivation," which I had been sadly lacking until I started the online lace shawl class.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at how many people agreed with me about the sparkly grey small beads with lavender lined large beads! Also, Ysolda is awesome, and i'm sure her book is too!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And I love Ysolda's patterns!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of your contrary votes, but I liked the 'Silver Lined Small Beads with the Lavendar Lined Large Beads'. Thanks for the opportunity to win an advanced copy of what is sure to be an AWESOME book!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the small grey & large lavendar.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely like the grey beads better!
ReplyDeleteI vote for lavender lined and sparkly gray! You really can't go wrong with any. They are all great choices. See you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThe sparkly gray beads with the lavender beads compliment the yarn color. The other colors of beads are more subdued and don't really "pop". I prefer pop!!
ReplyDeleteLove the lavender lined beads with the silver lined. It's so much easier to see the beautiful lines of the dropped stitches with the silver lined small beads :)
ReplyDeleteI will confess to loving what the majority likes, the sparkly grey with lavender beads. Makes the swatch 'pop' y'know!
ReplyDeleteAlso Ysolda for the win.
Oooh, I love Ysolda's designs! It was hard to choose which beads I liked best... really depends on whether you want them to be more subtle, or in-your-face. Have fun in Nevada!!
ReplyDeleteThe sparkly grey beads are beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteclee1159@yahoo.com
The sparkly grey and lavender lines beads enhance the colors in the yarn so well and make a beautiful piece. Since I am fairly new to knitting and enjoying my first KAL with Kinetik, I'm not familiar with Ysolda. Would love to learn more about new knitters. Anxious to see your finished product.
ReplyDeletelove the grey beads :)
ReplyDeleteLove the silver lined beads with the large lavender beads, the silver really lifts the colour of the yarn while the lavender gives it more depth, beautiful combo!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway and the chance to look at very pretty things!
love the grey beads :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all quite lovely, but I felt the Lavender lined beads blended in with the yarn and got lost. I liked the silver lined ones better. They seem to pop more.
ReplyDeleteLike the sparkly gray and lavender lined. Thanks for the chance to win Ysolda's book. Have fun in Nevada.
ReplyDeleteTwistedstitching on Ravelry
Silver and lavender is a classy combination, I think. Thanks for the lovely giveaway! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the grey and lavender! The two colors and size of the beads are a perfect match. Twitter:@blkndvn
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to help make the decision! Thanks for that! And I LOVE Ysolda! ravID or twitter revlahart
ReplyDeleteI voted. Thanks for the opportunity to win such a GREAT prize!
ReplyDeleteOops! I mean to add, I am also MicheleStitches on Ravelry and Twitter if you need to find me. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agonize for days over my own decisions choosing for you was easy Sparkly Small Beads and Lavender lined Large Beads - no question!
ReplyDeleteI just cast my vote in your bead poll. Very fun - much better than the survey questions I have to answer at my job!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win Ysolda's new book. She's a new designer to me and I'm really enjoying her work!
I like the sparkly grey and lined lavender. I think they stand out in a complimentary way. I look forward to seeing the design!
ReplyDeleteVoted! Exciting book giveaway. I'm jealous, I wish I was going to Tahoe.
ReplyDeleteI voted. And I'm in love with Ysolda's patterns. Just finished 2 damsons and now working on a Ishbel.
ReplyDeleteravID zephead8
Sorry if this is a duplicate. Something happened and I don't know if my previous message went through.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'd love to win Ysolda's new book. Love my Ishbel!
I voted. Have a wonderful working vacation.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see an example of how different the various beads can look on the same yarn!
ReplyDelete- KnitFoolDeirdre
Nice--my preferred beads are in the lead! (sparkly small grey, large lined lavendar)
ReplyDeleteI voted for the first choice. I decided that choice before I saw it was the easy answer/1st choice. I really did think about it! The book looks great!
ReplyDeleteSareBearKNits on rav
I picked the silver-lined and lavender lined beads, but I also like the grey small and lavender large.
ReplyDeletebgstoner AT gmail (dot) com
cant wait to see the design! it looks awesome! :) raineoc@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI thought the sparkly grey and lavender was the best option but they all looked nice. Maybe I'll be a winner for a change!

errrrr .... I made a typo in my comment. My Ravelry handle is handcrafter50 (and NOT handcrafter40)
ReplyDeleteDOH!!
Strong preference for the grey/lavender bead combo ... but really? It's going to be lovely whatever choice you make!
ReplyDeleteI liked the beads with more color best If I win the book (please, please), I can be reached at jjohnson222002@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love your beaded work. Who knew just changing the beads could make such a difference in a project.
ReplyDeleteSparkly grey and lavender:)
ReplyDeleteLove the beaded swatch with the lavender lined beads. thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteJuliaknit on Ravelry
Silver small beads and lavender large beads!
ReplyDeleteDefinately voted for the last choice because it compliments the knit design without competing with the color.
ReplyDeleteknitterlydesigns on Ravelry
Those lavender lined beads are gorgeous! And apparently a lot of other people think so too haha
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the give away =)
This looks like a charming knit and a charming book!
ReplyDeleteWell, I voted, but my choice is not the front-runner. I would love to win this book. Ysolda is such an incredible designer. thanks!
ReplyDeletemarilise on Ravelry
Super cute book! I haven't yet seen or heard of it but I like what I see so far :) Good luck with the new design!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see the final selection, maybe we can at least learn the yarn and color...
ReplyDeleteI think this will be a good book to add to my library. I have been meaning to use some of her patterns so this will encourage me to do so.
katbrown on Rav
Lavender and taupe will look the best. But in reality any would , your projects are always beautiful . Someday I'll be brave enough to do one myself .
ReplyDeleteThat is some gorgeous yarn and beadwork!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing little swatch! Really any of the beads work. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeletesparkly ones with the taupe. you can find me on twitter @skaro964
ReplyDeleteVoted, but I like all the combos really. The book looks great too. Find me at dvorag on Ravelry. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful design. I would be extremely happy to own Ysolda's new book, she's so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI put my vote in! Can't wait to see what the outcome is! Enjoy your teaching trip!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning toward the first option! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteTough decisions on the beads, but I think that the first is my favorite, closely followed by the third.
ReplyDeleteWow! what a lovely combination of colours, I must admit I would be tempted to toss both the small beads in one dish and both the large in another and pick them up whichever came first! anythingbutsnow on Ravelry
ReplyDeleteI can not believe the combo I liked the very best it leading the preferences at 63%
ReplyDeleteAnd, I am with every one else in regards to Ysolda. Maybe, just maybe this book will be sent my soon very soon :*)
I liked the first one but I think they would all look nice. Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteLove your swatch! Someday I'm going to try something with beads.
ReplyDeleteZowmom on Ravelry
I'm going through a purple phase right now, so I voted sparkley grey and lavender. (last week I found myself referring to a certain rich royal purple as 'juicy' and then explaining my choice of adjective for five minutes to a group of wide eyed teenagers). Also, I adore Ysolda. :D
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful combination - it's a hard choice, but I'd have to say the small grey sparkly ones and the large taupe lined ones.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Ysolda's newest little book. All her creations are so beautiful.
Thx for the opportunity !
ReplyDeleteLove your stuff!
(goodstuff on Rav)
SMall sparkly grey and lavender lined look gorgeous and have the prefect balance between blending in and standing out.
ReplyDelete(carmina on Rav)
Looks like my vote wasn't the most popular, but it ain't over till it's over! :)
ReplyDeleteknittingwithwords on Ravelry
I picked option one, which seems to be the most popular ;) I think the beads on that option really stand out beautifully but work perfectly with the yarn :)
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt Option 1. It is just so pretty, I can't wait to see what you make.

I like the first option also. Maybe the smaller beads could be even little bit more smaller and lighter but I am totally newbie to beeds so ...
ReplyDeleteI wish you success.

ReplyDeleteLove the sparkly Grey and the Lavender lined beads. Can hardly wait to see your new design. The book sounds fantastic too.
ReplyDeletesewbiz53@gmail.com
I like the sparkle grey and the lavender. I think it is so very pretty...goregeous choices either way....
ReplyDeleteI see my opinion is with the majority. But they are both lovely.
ReplyDeleteI sure would love to win that book.

Nothing like a give away to generate a lot of comments ;-). I like the combination of subdued little with flashy big myself.
ReplyDeleteI love the sample, love all the beads, but definitely agree with the majority about the lavender and gray!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Makes me want to go to the bead store and start something. I have ennoble sitting in my library just waiting for me to make it!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the new design when it's done! @WordLily on Twitter and Rav.
ReplyDeleteI always vote for the matchy-matchy choice!

Laura, I have been following your blog from the beginning and love all the sparkly bead designs you come up with. I would love to win this book. I'm jeanneftc on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI like the silver small beads with the lavendar large beads. The other colours seem to disappear into the swatch but the silver ones really stand out. Can't wait to see the full design!
ReplyDeleteI have left my opinion although all of the beads work wonderfully and it was really hard to choose. would love to try some Ysolda - can't believe I never have. Have a great trip C

Cast my vote and LOVE the chance to win... especially such a great book. I have the first two :)
ReplyDeleteLoved Vogue Knitting and had a chance to quickly say hi to you... I know its weird because when we take your Craftsy class it's like you're a newfound friend and you're knitting with us in our living rooms on a regular basis. It's hard to remember you have no idea who we are! just fans :)
I picked the sparky/lavender combo even though I am not usually a lavender fan but I love the shiny, sparkly-ness against the grey. i adore everything "Laura Nelkin" and cannot get enough, even though I bite off more than I can chew!
ReplyDeletetimy0604 on ravelry
Have fun in Nevada. Interesting what a strong consensus the voting is showing, thus far at least.
ReplyDeleteinkdarkmoon on rav
I can't believe how few people voted for the silver, I love it!
ReplyDeleteally28 on ravelry
Love the sparkly grey with the lavendar lined beads. Yummy yarn.
ReplyDeleteAll the choices and that yarn are very pretty, I can see why you couldn't decide. I couldn't decided between Sparkly Grey and Lavender or Sparkly Grey and Taupe. I went for Taupe but apparently I'm in the minority.
ReplyDeleteI like the small sparkly grey beads with the large taupe lined beads... As always, though, your work is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity to help you in your work and for the opportunity to win such a lovely book!
Oooh, all colors I love. Can see why the dilemna. You won't go wrong with any of the options; but I chose the subtlety of the taupe large and iridescence of the small grey. I love the yarn color choice but don't know without seeing in person if the small grey compete too much. Can't wait to see what you go with! And, thank you for another giveaway! Hope, hope…
ReplyDeleteDoodlefrog on Ravelry
I like the silver lined small beads and the lavender lined large beads. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteIt kind of depends on what the project is... the sparkly grey small beads look like a continuation of the yarn; the silver lined small beads have a little bit of contrast.
ReplyDeleteI could see either of them being good, but "best" really depends on the project as a whole!
(although I think the lavender lined large beads look a little better than the taupe lined large beads regardless)
depends on how mnay beads you need but I like the lavender lined large beads and the silver small beads
ReplyDeleteLove being able to vote! and love Cat too!
ReplyDeleteI liked being able to visually see the bead combinations in a sample swatch. I'll keep that idea in mind next time I'm trying to decide on colors. The book loos really cute too :)

ReplyDeleteApparently my preferred bead combo is the least popular so far, but I still like it... I lurve WLK, I have the previous two and can't wait to get my hands on the third! I'm libbythomas on Rav.
ReplyDeleteI cast my vote! Looks like most people have agreed with me. I just think the sparkly gray and the lavender lined beads coordinate with the yarn better. They're sparkly enough to stand out but coordinate well so they are part of the piece.
ReplyDeleteI'm alligator on Rav.
Do not enter me in the giveaway as I have already purchase the digital version.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say I chose the silver lined small beads because I think they give a lighter feel to the design and do not draw away from the other elements. I chose the Lavender Lined Large Beads for the opposite reason, their color seems a little stronger and I think the Taupe Lined Large Beads kind of get lost in the yarn color.
great colors....I love knitting my mystery kal
ReplyDeletediane
I voted for the sparkly grey small beads and the taupe lined large beads, but I was really waffling about the large beads.
ReplyDeleteI love the lavender lined large beads and the sparkly grey small beads. Very sophisticated!
ReplyDeleteI love them all! Why dont you just use it like the swatch - it gives the eye an interesting color combo to look at... and the book-what a delightful give away...hopeful!

I went with option 4... teabird on Ravelry. Love Ysolda!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the beads. Any combination would work imo, but I ended up choosing the silver with the lavender.
ReplyDeleteI love beads and I think choice one makes the beads a part of the cloth without covering up the design.
ReplyDeleteI voted as did the majority. I'm glad I stumbled upon your blog. I knit and I love working with beads. A nice combination!

This is a fantastic piece! The beads just enhance the overall texture. Can't wait to try it out too. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGreat open work and beads too!
ReplyDeleteI voted for the sparkly grey small and the lavender large beads. I felt like the silver and taupe ones just faded into the background too much.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the finished project with whichever beads you end us choosing. Thanks for the chance to win the book. rmmquilts@aol.com
